RMS Photo Finish Fall Series Opening Round Results
November 12 , 2007

After 3 rained out attempts to start the second annual Racing Media Services Photo Finish Fall Series at Pax Trax Motocross Park in Bunnell Florida, Team RMS took to the track October 31st to compete in the series’ opening round and they quickly returned to their winning ways.

Tyler Curtiss, the team’s 85cc pilot, took home his first piece of hardware scoring a well earned second place overall finish as the result of his 2/2 moto finishes in the 85cc ages 7 to 11 division. Brian Curtiss, lead by his son’s example, scored a second place overall finish in the +35 open division. Terry Long, aboard his #238 KX 450F, had a rough go in round one. Long collided with fellow competitor, Tom Sawyer, in the first moto of the +30 open division and had difficulty restarting the mighty thumper. Moto 2 wasn’t any kinder to Long as he and teammate Brian Curtiss collided right off the gate with Curtiss walking away with the better end of that deal. Nonetheless the hard charging Long still put RMS on the podium with a 3rd place overall finish. Team owner Michael Urban, made a cameo appearance aboard the RMS KX 125 and went 1/1 for a first overall in the competitive 125cc B (intermediate) class. The teams marquee rider Mack Garza, armed with a YZ250 F, rode to a solid 2nd place overall finish, with 2/2 moto finishes, in the ultra-competitive Youth 12-15 division. Team RMS is grooming this young speedster, along with his teammate Tyler Curtiss, for the 2008 amateur nationals at Ponca City and Loretta Lynn’s.

Round 2 action kicked off November 3 and with it saw the return of Michael Urban again aboard the RMS KX 125. With a renewed desire to compete Urban returned to claim another victory in the 125 cc B class but was bested by Pax Trax ace pilot Jonathan Saramento, aboard his #3 Honda CRF 250 R, and had to settle for 2nd place overall. Team riders Brian and Tyler Curtiss delivered repeat performances in round 2 with Tyler taking another 2nd place overall in the 85cc 7-11 division and Brian standing on the top spot of the podium for the +35 Open division. The hard charging Terry Long dominated the evening’s action in the +30 Open class leading both motos flag to flag easily staking claim to the top spot in that division for the evening. Team rider Mack Garza, placed on academic probation, by team leader Michael Urban, was forced to sit out round 2 action due to a less than acceptable grade point average and it is likely the youngster will miss the remaining races of this series.

One week later the team returned for round 3 action and continued their win streak. Terry Long took home the top honors in the +30 Open division while Brian Curtiss took first overall in the +35 division. The younger Curtiss nabbed another 2nd place overall in the 85cc 7-11 division while Urban, making his four stroke debut, aboard team rider Mack Garza’s YZ 250 F, was relegated to a fast fourth place in the 125cc B Class. Younger faster touring amateur riders, in town for the Florida Mini O’s motocross series, kept Urban hard at work navigating Garza’a Yamaha YZ 250 F around the one mile supercross style track.
